ZERO:
Zero Motorcycles, a Santa Cruz, California-based company, is the frontrunner in electric motorcycle technology and the global leader in the electric motorcycle industry. It is the first and only electric motorcycle company to showcase a multi-bike line up consisting of: the DS Dual Sport bike; the S Supermoto; the MX Track bike; and, its X Trail bike. Zero has also developed an international presence after opening a new European headquarters in Amsterdam and signing independent representatives in the UK, Germany, France, Austria, Italy, Spain, and is now available in Canada and Australia.

Instant acceleration and a lightweight design combine to form an industry leading power-to-weight ratio that increases the motorcycle’s range and handling abilities. The aircraft grade alloy frame, weighing less than 9 kilograms, makes the Zero S the quickest production electric motorcycle in its class. For instance, at only 100 kilos, the Zero S has a range of up to 80 kilometers and a top speed in excess of 100 KPH. With 31 peak horsepower and 62.5 ft/lbs of torque, Zero is introducing a new throttle technology that modulates the increased power to provide riders with exacting control over the acceleration.

Being a zero emissions vehicle, an electric motorcycle requires no oil changes or tune ups. There’s no smell of spent exhaust or burnt oil. It’s a plug-and-ride relationship. Zero’s S and DS models have 4KW batteries that recharge in about four hours from a standard 110-volt outlet while the MX and X run on 2KW cells that require half the time. Eco-friendly, the Zero’s are is also economy-friendly with an operating cost of less than one cent per kilometer. Furthermore, the Zero street and dirt bikes use a completely non-toxic lithium ion array and the majority of the motorcycle is fully recyclable.
